Old School of Mavros

Next to Mykonos’ Town Hall a minimal, yet imposing, building will definitely draw your attention.

Old school of Mavros was the first public school in Mykonos built, under the reign of Otto of Greece, by the Bavarian mechanic Weiller in 1859. The school was named after Markos Mavros, an exceptional Mykonian who covered all the expenses for the construction of the island's first public school.
